Fifth Grade Focus Review

           Shakespeare played a big part in our focus group. Shakepeare wrote many plays during his time. We have a readers theater that we are preforming the very known, Romeo and Juliet. Focus helped us learn so much about Shakespeare with worksheets, plays, and powerpoints. But all of this learning couldn't have been done without an amazing tacher, Mrs. Zawacki. The learning was so much fun and i liked it very much. We learned that there were two sides in Romeo and Juliet. there was a  Montegue and Capulet family. In our readers theatre, I played Juliet's nurse.
           Fifth grade was an amazing year to get to know new people and to use all of our knowledge and intelligence thoughout our life and make something creative and helpful. AC math was also a big impact on me because we used math in ways we never knew could be possible. we did videos had penpals and best of all, made math easier to understand. Mrs. White is an intelligent teacher that helps her students through the way.We even entered a contest called FLARE where we made solar cookers that worked and cooked food. I was in a team with Llewellyn, Brooke, Regina and me. we cooked brownies with frosting and papaya. It was delicious. We didn't win, but winnning isn't everything. We learned new things about solar energy and how to capture sunlight and using it to cook food.
           I will miss Rock Springs and all of the teachers with it. This school was an awesome place to spend my young years. I was here ever since I was in kindergarten and I have had the most amazing teachers ever since. I have had a blast! :)

FOCUS is FUN!!

Goodbye FOCUS.  I can't wait to go to middle school, and yet I don't want to leave.  For me somethings were fun, and some were not.  That's what motivated me on how I completed some things.  My favorite part of FOCUS was definetly when we studied the elements through powerpoints.  Oh yeah.  Powerpoints.  I kind of forgot.  In focus you get to use computers.  The FOCUS teachers teach you EVERYTHING about typing.  Speaking of typing, we also do science experiments.  It's fun!!yep.  FOCUS is fun.

One of the things we learned about is Shakespeare.  It was a fun unit because we're doing a play called Romeo and Juliet. I'm the narrorator, so I don't really have anything to describe here.  Romeo and Juliet is about two families that fight all the time. But this guy named Romeo checks this girl named Juliet out at her rich family's ball, and it figures out that she likes him too.  Get this.  They're both from opposite families.  It's romance with a quirky twist!!

i learned a lot at rock springs; i made some memories too. i'm really exited about middle school. they have a chemistry lab!! but i always will miss the fun i had in elementry school.

Blogging for Focus

    Whenever I think about the fact that I am going to be leaving this school in a matter of days, I just about cry.I have been at this school for six years and i don't want to leave it's familer halls, teachers, or faces.I keep on imagining not being able to come back to Rock Springs and I hate it.Probably only one out of every five students in this school love it as much as I do.If I could make it so that children like me didn't have to go to school I would do it just so that that those one out of five students do not have to go through what I am.
     In focus there are many things that we can do to enrich our minds.My favorite thing we do is logic,in logic we use grids and clues to discover information.One of my focus friends realy likes triple venn diagrams and is very good,but dislikes logic and often needs my help with it.From writing storys to performing plays everything we do in focus is to help become smarter and prepar us for midd le school.
     In readers theater I took a few parts in the drama play Romeo and Juliet, I play Montague, a citizen, and Mercutio.I think this play is very sweet and I would have loved to see it firsthand.Although I do think it is funny that Romeo loved someone else in the beggining of the play.After reading this play I knew that Shakspeare realy was a wonderful poet.

Reflections on this year

Shakespeare

          In the reader's theater our group is the Romeo and Juliet. In the play, I play the role of Romeo. Most of the roles of men were played by girls since we only had two boys. Before we even started the play however, we learned about the clothing, lifestyle, and the Globe Theater. Like they had square wooden plates instead of pottery circle plate. Also no plumbing at all.

Focus

          The first topic is the Peroidic Table. We learned about the different groups and divisions of the table and we were given several worksheets about it. Then each of  us got to pick one element and write a power point about it ( we do several power points and word documents this year). I picked Cobalt which is named after kobold which is German for goblin. The worst thing about focus is that people expect you to know everything. People walk up to us and tell us a question and  when we can't figure out the answer they say, I thought you were in focus. Just because we are in focus doesn't mean we know everything. Another topic is  several math activities. We started out with balances, then venn !, then finally hands on equations. We also had logic and analogies. Logic is so much better than analogies.

Farewell

I'm sad about leaving because once we leave here we won't be the top dog any more. We'll be the little kindergarteners again starting out at a new school. My little brothers will still stay here so I have a while to go before everyone is out of the Rock Springs Elementary. So bye to Rock Springs and hello to Creekland! That is the end of my blog for today as the reflections of everything that has happened in fifth grade focus.

Focus

In focus we learn complex skills to help reach our level of learning. In each nine weeks we had a different main topic. The first nine weeks were water. Then came elements for the next 15 weeks, then for the next weeks we finished up with Shakespeare. I've been in focus ever since first grade but I had Mrs. Zawacki in 4th and 5th grade. Also there is Ac Math, which is an advanced class for people who are very good at math.

This year in 5th grade focus we are working with Shakespeare. Shakespeare, if you don't already know, is a
English poet from the 1500's. His father was arrested for not going to church, which ruined his family chances of getting a family symbol. This was impossible until William Shakespeare became a famous poet. In our class we are witting stories using Shakespearian terms, and also our class will be doing a Romeo and Juliet play. Now we are pretty much done with Shakespeare and done with the school. Well that's all about Shakespeare.

Well it’s finally time for me to leave RSE. I know I haven’t been here as long as most of the other kids but this school was really fun. I'll never forget RSE. It was the best school I've been to yet. I think that Rocksprings will make a great impact on my life.

Fifth Grade FOCUS at RSES

        FOCUS is a great way to learn advanced Math, Reading, Language Arts,etc.My FOCUS teacher Mrs, Zawacki is hard working and great at teaching mostly math. If you dont understand something she would go back and work with you seperatly and if you still dont get it which most likely will NOT happen, then she will send a friend to help you. She always will make sure you get something no matter how hard she tries.

       A big thing i learned in FOCUS was about Shakespeare. We have been practicing a play written by him. The play we're doing is the play Romeo and Julet. I play Benvolio and Lady Capulet. They dont have many parts which i didn't really like, but at least I'm in the play. The reason why i dont have many parts is because we are doing a short version of Romeo and Julet. Our play will be performed in Readers Theater.

        I have been at Rock Springs for Six years now and it is geting to be the time to leave. I'm sad and happy at the same time. The reason why I am happy is because I get to go to middle school because I think I will love middle school so much. The reason why i am sad is because I have to leave RSES. It is a great school mostly because of the teachers. All the teachers have been so good to me and it is very hard to choose one that is my favorite. I hate having to leave this great school , but i have to move on no matter how hard it is.
